This is the star making thing^^^

Apparently they just point 192  lasers at the same place and it makes a mini star.

Here's the storyhttp://www.wired.com/science/discoveries/news/2009/05/gallery_nif

My inner Ghostbuster wants them to not cross the beams.

My Scientist is all like "spatially coherent low-divergence infrared beams amplified that collide with 192 other beams to create self-sustaining fusion energy?! This could power the world of the future!"

Hey guys, Tesla love is okay,  but Chrome speed tests are not SCIENCE. Unlike more supercold plasma!

Supercold plasmas are so awesome because by slowing down atoms to the virtual absolute zero, scientist can examine the exotic behavior of atoms in a solid state, the phenomenon used in superconductivity (electrical conductors without resistance)

But but tesla coils, sound waves, and internal combustion. Although its not super advance science, it's still science.

I fail to see how it's anything but science. That... that was totally science.

Kay i'm going to admit with shame that my flash wasn't working so I didn't watch it and just assumed it was a non-awesome speed test.

I also got a bit to tightly strung on what belongs in this here thread and what doesn't. Guess I wanted to prove my scientist cred or something. I have a bachelor in chemistry.

A lot of people know that diamonds take extremely high pressures to form and melt, but not many people know that, like graphite and carbon (diamond is a form of carbon, so is graphite), a diamond can burn. My mother was wondering were her diamond earrings were after our cottage burned down in '01, and around that time I learned in Chem 101 that diamonds burn at about 800 degrees, and later was even allowed to burn one in liquid oxygen, which is pretty cool.

A demonstration of the oxidation of a diamond

Trust me, a scientist who can make prototypes that sophisticated would use a lighter material and create his own mold to simulate the function of the human arm.
