Gentlemen, I love Kung-Fu.

I love Kung-Fu in the streets, in alleys, on rooftops, on hills, in castles, in fortresses, and at sea.

I love Kung Fu in English, Mandarin, with subtitles, with dubbing, without subtitles, and without dubbing.

I love Kung-Fu with swords, axes, staffs, nunchaku, bare hands, poisons, and ancient magical styles.

Gentlemen, I love Kung-Fu.

Let us discuss our favorite movies of the genre.

As of right now, I'm watching the "Brave Archer" series, which consists of three movies and an unofficial sequel. They're from the late 70's and early 80's, and all in Mandarin. I've been hungering for a good Kung-Fu movie recently, and decided to make a thread to see what else is out there that I'm missing, as well as find out what some of your favorite movies or series may be.

Also, as much of a comedy as it is, I absolutely love Kung-Fu Hustle.

Does Kung Pow counts?

Also, Bruce Lee's The Game of Death (i don't know if that's the title, the where he uses the legendary Yellow tracksuit)  is awesome

I'll be honest, I was turned off from Kung Pow from the moment I had seen the trailers for it when it was being advertised. I think Kung Fu Hustle has a good balance of comedy and action (the action being fucking superb certainly helps), but Kung Pow just seemed to be way too ridiculous for me. If enough people really recommend it, though, I'll watch.

Also, I've wanted to see Game of Death for a while. Hopefully I'll get around to it in the next couple of weeks.

Oh snap, welcome to my new favorite thread. <3

My favorites are pretty much anything with Michelle Yeoh in them. I know technically she's a dancer and not a martial artist, but she fakes it incredibly well.

If you're willing to go back into the 70s/80s and have a sense of humor, I'd recommend the Heroic Trio. Is is campy AS ALL HELL but I love it.  Michelle Yeoh, Anita Mui and Maggie Cheung. Good times.
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uymQYmDxymY" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uymQYmDxymY</a>

Also Kung Fu Mahjong. There are 3 movies, but I've only seen 2 of them. The old couple from Kung Fu Hustle feature prominently in it.
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-6uCnMPVhM" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-6uCnMPVhM</a>

More people should love Kung Fu Hustle, it's amazing.

Pretty much my childhood. I lived near a laserdisc rental store and they were always loaded with the movies. I've watched so many that everything kinda coagulated into one giant memory where I can't remember names of movies. Here's a few though

Fong Sai Yuk
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-sZu3QAkekY" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-sZu3QAkekY</a>

Fong Sai Yuk II - god damn epic last fight scene
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lLjlGYwWxg" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lLjlGYwWxg</a>

Iron Monkey - Wong Fei Hung as a kid!
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4q6vxSOU1DA" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4q6vxSOU1DA</a>

Fist of Fury (Stephen Chow) - This  was a fun one.
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m68cUx7Cx8Y" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m68cUx7Cx8Y</a>

I've seen a lot, I just don't remember the names. Also, I'm pretty sure I fapped to Heroic Trio when I was younger.

Oddly enough, my favourite fight scene in a film is from Jackie Chans' Rom com.

I think I've seen Fong Sai Yuk before but under a different title. Something like Twin Dragons?
I went through a phase where I watched any Kung Fu movie I could get my hands on (good times!) but some of them blend together for me too.

Also, Wing Chun rules.

Considering that I am all the way here in South-East Asia, let's just say we have a channel dedicated to Shaw Brothers stuff 24/7 (albeit it's on cable). Besides that, every Saturday there would be a Shaw Brothers movie on national T.V..

Besides that, I remembered back when I was young at the age four, my dad would always bring the family to an old school theatre (the sort where it looks as if it came from the 50s or 60s kind of cinema) and watch kung-fu/ wuxia movies. Every weekend.

As of now, most kung-fu movies are rarely made in Hong-Kong, except for the stuff like Yip-Man. These days, Thailand conquers that department, where every one or two months, there would be a movie related to their martial arts (I only know of Muay Thai, but am not sure of the rest).

P.S. If anyone who has Chinese roots and has watched the old school TVB kung-fu dramas in the 80's to mid 2000s, you would know how much special effects were used in everything. And don't even get me started on the part where in order for a main hero to secrete out the poison injected through spit/acid/gas/poisonous punch/whatever, the main heroine has to strip of her clothes, along with the hero's, and do a qi transfer technique. That was real silly, and thank goodness anime has never caught up with this sort of thing. OR WILL THEY?!

I remember watching tons of Jackie Chan, so much fun!

I saw Ong Bak some time ago and it was okay, it is a while ago that I saw a good martial arts movie though.

watched chocolate finally after buying it a few months ago. Thought it was good apart from the fact that they went for a retard vs retard fight near the end. Even if the choreography was brilliant
